Product detailed description
(-)-Sparteine is a natural alkaloid that has found its use as an antiarrhythmic agent and sodium channel blocker. Above else, it is also an extremely potent tool in asymmetric synthesis, especially in stereoselective lithiations where it acts as a lithium-specific chiral ligand. The quality and purity of such ligands have a significant impact on the outcome of the performed asymmetric transformations. Even trace amounts of Lewis bases, such as water, ethers, or bicarbonate ions, can result in a substantial drop in asymmetric induction and poor reproducibility.
In the past decade, in contrast to its optical antipode that remains readily available, (-)-sparteine has practically vanished from the market. Its scarce availability worldwide has resulted in an extreme spike in its price. In Galochrom, we stand proud to provide small to medium to large quantities of a top-class quality (-)-sparteine that is manufactured with maximum care to be always provided chemically and optically pure and always in its natural liquid form.
